Hey, I’m Huyen Tue Dao.

I’m a mobile developer, speaker, podcaster, YouTuber, and Google Developer Expert.

Devoted Developer

I am a Staff-level Android engineer.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering.

I love software development and want to build beautiful experiences for people to use: experiences that are well-crafted, careful, maintainable, helpful, thoughtful, and delightful.

Mobile development and Android development, in particular, are my work and passions. I also have a deep love and enthusiasm for the Kotlin Programming Language.

Since 2016 I have been a Google Developer Expert.

Previously, I worked at Adobe, on the Trello Android app for almost 7 years, and 6 years as an independent contractor building web, Android, and iOS apps.

Content Creator

I love the mediums of audio and video for conveying information in fun and understandable ways. I also just love talking to people, learning what great things they're doing, and learning who they are as human beings. Creating video and audio content has become a pastime and a passion especially when it comes to talking about tech and the people in it.

Currently, I co-host the Android Faithful podcast, your weekly source for the latest news, hardware, and apps in the wide world of Android, with plenty of my developer commentary. My co-host, Ron Richards, and I record every Tuesday at 17:00 PT / 20:00 ET.

Ron, along with Jason Howell, hosted the TWiT podcast, All About Android for 13 years. From 2022 to 2023 I co-hosted AAA with them.

For the March 2022 and Google I/O 2022 editions of #TheAndroidShow, I co-hosted with my friend, Florina Muntenescu.

The March 2022 episode was focused on Android 13, Jetpack Compose, and Tablets and featured several interviews and developer stories. It was streamed on March 9, 2022 on Google's Android Developers channel.

The Google I/O 2022 episode featured the Fireside Q&A and focused on Android 13, Jetpack Compose, Wear OS, and Tablets, featuring a segment on Compose for Wear OS and more developer stories. It was streamed on May 12, 2022.

With my friend, Chiu-Ki Chan, I created the Android Dialogs YouTube channel where we talk to people in the Android community.

I hosted KotlinConfersations at KotlinConf '23 and'19 where I livestreamed chats with several of the speakers present.

Serious Speaker

(just trying to stick with the alliteration)

Attending and speaking at conferences has been crucial to my growth professionally and fulfilling to me personally.

I would not be the engineer I am today without the efforts and knowledge put into the world by other community members, and I hope to pay that back in some small way by sharing my experiences, my mistakes, my joys, and my learnings.

Plus traveling and meeting incredible people are pretty fun.
